Singer Battery Division

Quality Products... Expert Advice... Low Prices... Excellent Service

What makes the Singer name the best known in the battery industry?

Project
Development
and
Engineering

Richard Singer, founder of the Singer Battery Division, has the experience which comes from having built over 100 plants worldwide. "Appropriate Technology" is our motto. All projects feature minimum capital investment at start-up. Maximum early cash flow better assures success, and Singer Battery Division's equipment selection typically offers fast and low cost production expansion to profit from early opportunities. We will work with your requirement to help with financing, securing the needed technology, take responsibility for plant start-up and training, and even offer quality assurance packages. If your company plans a new plant or an upgrade of a present facility - Singer is the one name with a proven record.

Technology

Singer Battery Division provides technology and technical assistance including SLI, continuous plate production systems, stationary and traction industrial cells and batteries, flooded technologies, VRLA AGM and gel, plus EV, Telecommunications, Solar and UPS system batteries. Our technology comes from many sources - in-house, battery manufacturers, patent holders and top technical providers. We deliver what others only promise.

Quality
Assurance

An innovative program to help with ISO certification. Also available to provide a separate non-ISO certified approach to assure high quality batteries meeting high performance standards at lowered production cost.

Materials

Simply the finest materials as required to make the best possible batteries, from low cost flooded SLI to the most advanced stationary and EV batteries and cells with extended life and cycle requirements. Most of our materials are similar in price or lower than lower quality alternates. Our sources are those of the leading manufacturers. Most are ISO 9001 / QS9000 certified. Negative expander, fiber flock, separators, pasting belts, cork powder mold coat, state-of-charge (SOC) indicators, flux, Bunsen (VRLA) valves, gas diffusion discs, and more.
FIBER FLOCK Claremont Flock Corporation manufactures the highest quality 100% virgin material for the battery industry – our products offer trouble free pasting!  Our fiber flock is ISO 9001 certified
Singer Batteries
Bi-Component cell-flockä  BC incorporates the unique properties of established fiber grades Polyester and Polyolefin.  This yields a high strength, high bulk, stable fiber with outstanding performance!
Polyester cell-flockä PE component polyester is 100% natural virgin material and is highly resistant to sulfuric acid. cell-FLOCK’s precision cutting and proprietary finish processing enables ultra-effective dispersion under all conditions without agglomeration or clumping.
Modified Acrylic cell-flockä MA modified acrylic is a long chain synthetic fiber composed of at least 35% acrylonitrile units.  This new fiber development yields a high strength, high bulk, hydrolytically stable fiber.  With the highest melt point and highly chemical resistant
Polypropylene cell-flockä PP is a cost effective fiber for high performance applications in the lead acid battery plate market.   Precision cut from full 3-denier, first quality, polypropylene tow
PASTING BELTS We supply top quality pasting belts in custom lengths, each belt is produced to meet our customers’ standards.  We offer consistent plate thickness, durability, and strength in addition to competitive pricing.  We also supply cheese cloth
MOLD CORK Many formulations available, Binderless as well as cork with Binder
FLUX We supply flux for your COS machinery - Top quality at competitive pricing

Production
Systems and
Equipment

All production systems provide maximum quality at specified output levels. Low per-unit production cost, fast payback on investment, consistent and repeatable output, reliable operation and superior factory customer support and upgrade policies are critical considerations in our recommendations. Systems and their equipment include:

HAMMOND NEGATIVE EXPANDER - Hammond specializes in varying formulations for automotive, motive power, standby power, and valve-regulated batteries.  Over 50 years of producing expander has led to Hammond becoming the industry leader both in terms of production and technology.  An ever-changing need for specialized expander used for specialized applications is the force which drives research.

Hammond also specializes in custom blends and packaging.  Formulations can be made to desired specifications.  The technical support staff can play a helpful role in deciding upon the correct expander to use if requested.  Supplying the customer with the precise amount of expander needed for a one bag to paste mix ratio further assures a clean introduction into the batch.  All batches are tested in accordance with ISO-9000 certified quality program standards.

LEAD OXIDE AND LITHARGE PRODUCTION - Barton Pot and Ball Mill (attrition / Shimizu) lead oxide production processes from 1 ton to 35+ tons per 24-hour. Batch and continuous litharge and red lead processes. Oxide handling systems.
PASTE PREPARATION - Drum and high-speed fully automatic paste mixing, including automatic additives addition. Full process control systems for optimum consistency. Platform mount air conditioned and vacuum cooled models. Per mixer output of up to 5+ tons paste per hour.
GRID PRODUCTION - Book mold gravity casting to continuous casting to expanded metal grid production. All alloys, including PbCa, selenium and ultra-low and high PbSb. Spine casting for tubular plate production. Multi-caster systems and central lead distribution furnaces.
CONTINUOUS GRID AND PLATE PRODUCTION - Continuous casting, reciprocating expanded metal and high speed continuous reciprocating processes. Lead strip casting and casting-rolling / Properzi processes. Low corrosion ultra-fine grain structures. Continuous process from grid production through pasting and automatic stacking assures lowest per plate production cost, significant lead savings and absolute maximum plate-to-plate consistency of dimensional and weight tolerances.
PASTING LINES - Belt (cotton), steel belt and orifice pasting and flash dry lines. High speeds to over 600 plates per minute. High dimensional and weight control capabilities for all plates from small motorcycle and VRLA types to large, thick industrial plates.
CURE SYSTEMS - Batch and continuous systems. Essential to assure highest possible active mass utilization and performance. Traditional cure and accelerated high-speed cure systems. Reliable, consistent and repeatable tribasic and tetrabasic crystal growth.
DRY CHARGE - High speed inert atmosphere and vacuum systems. For SLI dry charged applications and as part of VRLA AGM processes. Full recycling of water and acid available.
PLATE WRAP AND ENVELOPING / GROUP STACKING - SLI and industrial plates. All types of separators - polyethylene (PE) , absorbed glass mat (AGM), PVC, polypropylene (PP), glass mat, etc. Wrap only, press-type, heat seal, adhesive and ultrasonic processes. Wrap / envelope plates and wrap / envelope and stack. Dedicated group stacking systems. Enveloping and stacking capable to 1mm separator thickness.
CAST-ON-STRAP (COS) - Rotary and in-line machines. For SLI, industrial and VRLA production. Buffering and automatic load and unload. Line speeds to 1,300 batteries per shift. Full automation from COS load through finishing line.
